Community News
My days start with coffee and bird watching and end with cooking delicious meals. In between I write, drink tea, and snuggle with my dogs. I adore learning about others and how their stories shaped the lives they live. I’m on Instagram @bloomingwithcare and share my day-to-day thoughts, ask silly questions and love connecting with others.
Making an Impact
Nucleus Medical Media (https://www.nucleusmedicalmedia.com) is a distinguished creator of medical illustrations worldwide, reaching millions each month online, in print, and in broadcasting. Their mission to help people by improving health literacy is exemplified by recent months of dedicated efforts, producing compassionate and accurate illustrations that authentically portray the spectrum of this community.
Since our first contact about one of the inaccurate, worst-case scenario images we have all grown too accustomed to seeing online; Nucleus committed their time and resources, free of charge, to act as catalysts for positive change and education for our community
From their co-founder Mr. Ron Collins, to their talented senior medical illustrator and writer, Mrs. Leslie Leonard, they immediately understood our concerns and worked diligently to not only remove the inaccurate image but worked to create illustrations that reflect our diverse community. And it didn’t stop there – together we also incorporated updated studies and data into the supporting text. This provides valuable assistance by addressing challenges with solutions and, for the first time, emphasizes the community’s strengths and positive traits.
Many thanks to our dedicated team, including Dr. Shanlee Davis, Jennifer Voige, and Ryan, who with Leslie, collaborated tirelessly to establish the “gold standard” of illustrations. This benchmark will guide our discussions with other illustrators and the medical community to hold them accountable for accurately reflecting our community.
Nucleus’ comprehensive illustrations will save lives, give peace to new parents and families, and empower males living with XXY. Thank you Nucleus for illuminating a path to reshape how the world perceives XXY.
“We hope the Klinefelter community is successful in its mission to change misconceptions of XXY patients, as you did with our team” – Ron Collins, Co-Founder Nucleus Medical Media
“Excited to share these illustrations as a beacon of positive change for Klinefelter awareness!” – Nucleus Medical Media Announcement
